 | Two weeks ago I decided with my friend Cinzia to go for some fruit picking, usually in Australia it's a good way to save money but we discovered that this is not true!!
We called the harvest trail and they gave us the number of Bundaberg backpackers in Bundaberg telling us that they should have some work for us. So we called immediately the backpackers and I was told to come as they have work and they need girls and that was fantastic we are Italians because there weren't so many Italians..so we catched the bus from Cairns to Bundaberg, 150 AUD and 20 hours trip!!! We arrived there in the middle of the night,at 3:30 am. Everything was closed except MacDonald was opening at 5 am..so we waited sitting on the bench near the couch station, then we moved to Macdonald until 9 am,when the backpackers reception opened..there was no work for us immediately and we had to wake up every night at 2 o'clock in the night for the stand-by to replace people don't showing up for work.. and there were a lot of Italians!!!..now it's almost 2 weeks we are here, I worked only 3 days and I lost 1 day of work because the reception made a mistake and didn't write my name in the work list!!! Obviously I went to the reception to ask for explanations and when I told them that I lost a day of work because of them they answered me something like if I wanted to work I had to shut up!!!! Before that I have called the harvest trail to explain what was happening here as they gave me the number of this place..but nothing has changed and they keep giving the phone number of Bundaberg backpackers!! |

 | I worked in zucchini picking and I will be paied 2,17 AUD per bucket (it contains more than 50 zucchinis), that means hard work for nothing!! Last Friday night 2 Australian 15yo boys have stolen my bag while I was using the wifi outside the library around 11 pm..yesterday (Saturday afternoon) I kindly asked to the reception to give me the passaport I gave them instead of the key deposit of 50 AUD,just for the night to go out (in my bag there were my ID,driver lic... and credit card) and they told me I had to give them 50AUD!!!!!I couldn't withdraw (no credit card and banks were closed) and I didn't want to ask to my friend to borrow me the money,so I argued and I was told to leave the backpackers,I didn't,I had paied until Wednesday and I knew all the backpackers are full..so I answered "if you find a place for me I leave"..they told me to pack my stuff and leave and that the police was coming and I answered that I was waiting for the police..nobody came and I am still in this shit of backpakers!!!
No comment, just I have to wait until the end of the Anzac week end to organize my new trip! I am only very sad for a so negative experience! |
